BUSHGREEN

BUILD SOMETHING YOU HADN’T THOUGHT OF

We just did the following piece of work for the Bush Theatre (one of the UK’s top new-writing theatres) called bushgreen.

bushgreen is the web’s first ever social publishing platform for writers, and solves the three problems Josie, Anthea and James from the Bush Theatre came to us with:

1. The Bush Theatre is a small theatre. It selects and stages only ten of a thousand new plays it receives each year. Consequently, this may mean good writers feel a sense of rejection.

2. Writers learn best by having their work performed, but since the majority of scripts cannot be staged, writers can miss out on valuable feedback.

3. Writing is a lonely job and most writers feel isolated and outside of the ‘scene’. This often leads to overly negative criticism on the web of other writers and theatres

What we did for the Bush Theatre is we designed something they hadn’t thought of – a second strategic website to their main ticket-focused site. A site that lets writers get together, share their experiences, find directors, producers and stages for their plays. They can even earn money doing it.

With over 2,000 users signed up and over 600 plays uploaded and shared since late December, a spread in the Guardian newspaper and industry-wide positive feedback in the UK and the US – the benefits to the Bush are tangible. And they’re well pleased with it.
