We are currently on the lookout for:

Freelance Creative Technologist / Developer

We're looking for a part-time creative technologist who can look after and project manage technical aspects of our work. This is a 3 month freelance retainer. We'd like you to work with us 3 days a week.

You will have in depth working knowledge of PHP, Django, ROR, AJAX, XHTML, CSS and if you were familiar with Actionscript 3.0 and Java that would be extra cool.

We will consider a range of experience levels.

As we work on inventing cutting edge online platforms you must have a excellent knowledge and awareness of current Web 2.0 and semantic technologies. We need to know you are abreast of what's happening in the field. And you need to love it.

You must be able to project manage effectively and productively, and be very comfortable with communicating and meeting with clients and everyone else. Good presentation skills are a must.

You need to enjoy working with others in a creative environment, you will be expected to work with other world class programmers working on our current projects. You must be happy with the responsibility of managing others.

You need to love what the Digital Health Service and MakeMode stands for, be well-organised, love GTD, have high-standards, attention to detail, be a completer-finisher, a compulsive plan-maker, an analytical long-range thinker and fundamentally be interested in how and why things work.

A Freelance Project Manager

Skills needed:
- fluent in English
- great communication skills
- 2+ years experience managing web-based projects
- ability to think critically
- ability to work in a team and independently, sometimes away from our office

We'll need you to prove that you can run projects from end-to-end, that you have fun doing it and that you bring the best out of the people and projects you manage. And you'll need to have a passion and enthusiasm for what you do - we want to get excited about working with you.

A Freelance Web Designer

Skills needed:

- ability to work in a team and independently, sometimes away from our office
- good solid graphic design skills
- a good understanding of XHTML and CSS a must, a bonus if you can code in them
- an understanding of Flash, a bonus if you can animate and develop in it

You'll also need to have a passion and enthusiasm for what you do - we want to get excited about working with you

Intern - Marketing

MakeMode Labs have started Rememble.com; a pretty funky Web2.0 startup based in Old Street, London, and are looking for a passionate intern that can assist with Marketing and PR.

Skills needed:

- residing in London, preferably the East End
- familiarity with internet (more the better)
- ideally familiar with below-the-line marketing
- ability to think critically
- ability to write journalistically
- ability to work in a team and independently, sometimes away from our office

Creative Technologist / Developer

MakeMode:

MakeMode is a start-up. It is a service invention agency. It is a young, creative, ambitious outfit specialising in innovating digital services across different technology platforms. Our current focus is the Web and mobile Web. MakeMode is supported by the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA), which means we are engaged in producing extraordinary applications that innovate in and move the market. This is coupled with an open and collaborative working structure where initiative and group problem solving is central, and which allows scope for holistic skills development.

Description of the Role:

We are looking for a Creative Technologist to do the groundwork for our technology strategy and help build our initial offering which is a Web application dealing with the storage of multiple media types in original ways. The ideal candidate will have a strong creative appreciation and will be someone who can make new and exciting things happen. MakeMode is a human-experience-led agency, and so the candidate needs to be passionate about what technology can enable people to achieve, and have a proven methodology for the development of Web-based applications to deadlines and ideally experience of development of software for mobile technology. A dedication to quality is a must, and a good appreciation of usability is essential.

Candidates will have a computer science or appropriate technology-based degree. They must have working knowledge of HTML 4.x, XHTML, CSS 2, XML, XSL, JavaScript, and at least one industry class Content Management System. Solid development experience of PHP and mySQL is required. An interest in J2ME and in developing with Ruby/AJAX on Rails would be valuable.

The right candidate will be very passionate about the possibilities for building in the interactive space, and will be able to provide examples of compelling work that demonstrates this.
